Anything in this world; sports teams, superstars, businesses, actors, organizations, products, etc. that are now a success once began with many failures. Some failed harder than others. Stories of struggle beyond reason that would make many think to fold and give up. The biggest thing that I learned going into 2019 was the best investment you can make is by investing in yourself. You were put onto this Earth to provide something of purpose. Everyones journey does not begin the same and the purpose of life is different for every single individual. Search for it. Once it’s found, BElieve. Take a gamble on YOUrself. BE YOU.
Instill belief into every person you come across. Inspire them to be the person they are mean’t to be. The hardest thing in life that deters people away from their path of purpose is the fear of those failures that come with continuing on their specific journey. The stress of finances, the “what ifs,” opinions of family and friends. Following your own path will never be easy. You will have to earn everything through hard work. However, you don’t have to love the work, yet be addicted to the results that come with that work. Have faith in what you are committed to and never stop believing in that purpose. Strong mind, strong heart, it must come from within.

I would like to highlight a few people that never stopped believing in themselves. People that failed countless times, had doubters, but overcame that adversity and bringing their purpose of life to the world.
Walt Disney
At age 22, Walt Disney was fired from a Missouri newspaper for “not being creative enough.” One of his early ventures, called Laugh-o-gram Studios, went bankrupt. The creator of Mickey and Minnie Mouse went on to be nominated for 59 Academy Awards, winning 32, all for his unparalleled animations. He still holds the record for the most Oscars won by an individual, according to WaltDisney.com.
Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan once said, “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” Today, Jordan is considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time, with career stats including 6,672 rebounds, 5,633 assists, and 32,292 total points, according to NBA.com.
Bill Gates
Before launching Microsoft, Bill Gates was a Harvard University dropout and co-owner of a failed business called Traf-O-Data. Driven by his passion for computer programming, Gates built what would become the world’s largest software company. Microsoft went public in 1986, and by the next year its rising share price made then-31-year-old Gates the world’s youngest self-made billionaire. An investor in the initial public offering would have seen a return of 30,207 percent.
Thomas Edison
As a young boy, Thomas Edison’s teachers told him he was “too stupid to learn anything.” He did not have much more success in the workplace, as he was fired from his first two jobs for not being productive. Even as an inventor, reports claim that Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. Happily for night owls across the globe, attempt 1,001 worked out differently.
Steve Jobs
The mastermind behind Apple dropped out of Oregon’s Reed College after one semester. He also quit one of his first jobs to backpack around India and take psychedelic drugs, according to CNN. He later said that these experiences helped him create an iconic brand and the largest technology company in the world. While he famously accepted an annual salary of only $1, his net worth was $8.3 billion when he died in 2011.
Belief in Team Dynamics
Whether you are a CEO, Director, or Coach of a company, organization, or team, there are three things you must have your employees or players believe in to have a connected group:
- 1 Goal
- 1 Purpose
- 1 Family
The goal must be the sole focus and how you prepare to reach that goal must be with great purpose. The team must be on the same page at all times together as one. They must learn to get over themselves and care about the teammate next to them. Making sure each player has an understanding for their role will allow them to perform that role to the best of their ability. The best players must be the toughest mentally in order to keep the group even keel during adversity. A team that believes will always have a chance to win, leading to success.
